Truth as a dirty word.

How rotten and insincere are these professions: “I resolve to act with you in all simplicity and candor.” What are you doing, man? What need you tell us this? It will appear of itself. - Marcus Aurelius.
I am increasingly grumpy towards people who proclaim the Truth or declare their words as true. The latter is redundant: explicitly claiming words are true is reasserting a previous statement. Only liars and the desperate have need for such a word; the honest do not. The former is trying to sell us something. If you have a case to make, then make it. Do not join the chorus of babbling salespeople with their straining smiles of false humility in screaming their Truth over each other.

Who are you trying to persuade - me or yourself?
